Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how nae Inc. ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the kosokoso macOS application and related services ("Service").
1. Audio and transcripts
- Local mode: Audio is processed entirely on your device. It is not sent to us or any third party.
- Cloud mode: Audio is sent directly from your device to the transcription provider you configure (e.g., Groq, OpenAI) using your own API key. We do not receive this audio.
- Proxy mode: Audio is sent to our proxy, which forwards it to a transcription provider (e.g., Groq, with OpenAI as fallback) and returns the transcript. We do not store your audio or transcripts; audio is processed transiently to produce the transcript.
Transcription history is stored locally on your device (text only) — we do not have access to it.
Meeting transcription & speaker labels: During a meeting session, audio is buffered to a temporary file on your device, transcribed in chunks, and the temporary audio is deleted when the session ends. Speaker separation ("Speaker A/B") generates voice embeddings on your device only; they are used to label speakers, are not uploaded to us, are not retained after processing, and are never used to train models. Only the resulting text and speaker labels are saved locally.
2. License and usage data
To operate licensing and the Proxy allowance, we store your license key, plan status, and aggregate usage counts (such as transcription minutes used in the current period). We do not associate this with the content of your transcripts.
3. Payment data
Payments are processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Paddle's handling of your data is governed by Paddle's privacy policy.
4. Third-party processors
- Paddle — payments and order management.
- Groq / OpenAI — speech-to-text processing (Cloud and Proxy modes).
- Cloudflare — hosting of our proxy and licensing services.
5. Data retention
License and usage records are retained for as long as your license is active and as required for accounting and legal obligations. Audio in Proxy mode is not retained after the transcript is produced.
6. International data transfer
We sell primarily in Japan and the United States. In Cloud and Proxy modes, audio is processed by transcription providers (Groq, OpenAI) located in the United States, and our proxy/licensing runs on Cloudflare (United States / global edge). If you are in Japan, by choosing Cloud or Proxy mode you consent to the transfer of the relevant data — audio for the duration of processing, plus license and usage data — to these providers in the United States. The United States is not designated by Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission as having a data-protection regime equivalent to Japan's; each provider handles the data under its own published terms and security measures. Local mode keeps all audio on your device, with no transfer.
7. California / US privacy rights
We do not sell or "share" your personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may request to know, access, or delete the personal information we hold (license and usage records) by contacting us, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you (such as license and usage records) by contacting us. Note that deleting your license record may disable your license.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
